Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy

Therapeutic and research work with psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy started in the 1950s and 60s and then mostly stopped when the medicines became illegal. Many underground therapists kept doing this work at great personal risk to themselves because they knew how powerful it was for people with deep and complex trauma.

There is now ongoing above-ground research on PTSD, terminal anxiety, depression, addiction, and more. Much of this research is showing great promise.

Interview with Robert Grant MD, one of the pioneers in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. He is combining IFS work with medicine and is getting excellent results, especially with depression.

I was happy to be included as a panel member on a LAMPS discussion on Psychelics and Entities a while back, which may be of interest to you. Clicking on the video will take you to YouTube to view the video.

Classes and presentations I offer will discuss methods of working with psychedelic experiences before, during, and after in the framework of IFS therapy.

Workshops will include:

  • The 3 stages: Preparation, the medicine session, and integration.
  • Some of the current research, and legal status
  • Why IFS is ideal for this work
  • Therapist parts with psychedelics
  • Some of the various medicines
  • A preferred format for this work
  • The work of Michael Mithoefer, Dr. Robert Grant, Stan Grof, Gabor Mate, and others.

“”I took the IFS and psychedelics GREAT workshop and found it very inspiring. All my gratitude to you for your honesty, impeccability, wisdom, presence, and compassion… My English is not good enough to express my admiration but I guess that no language would do good enough, only that of the Soul.”

Laura Röel, workshop participant – IFS & Psychedelics.
