This was my primary area of focus and expertise for most of my life. It was my training ground and testing ground for various healing methods. It is still at the base of what I do.
Many therapists and people today are too young to remember, but back in the 70s and 80s the existence and painful consequences of childhood sexual abuse were largely ignored. PTSD was also ignored and misunderstood.
It was not an official diagnosis until the Vietnam veterans political action forced its recognition. Today trauma is one of the most frequently heard words when therapists speak. This is a tremendous and wonderful transformation.
I still work with a few survivors of childhood sexual abuse but it is no longer the exclusive focus it was for most of my life.
“I first met Bob when he was part of the staff that trained me in IFS. We have worked together often since then. He knows IFS deeply. He brings great curiosity and kindness to his work and he continues to explore the farther reaches of IFS.”
